Our favorite edible playdough recipe is peanut butter playdough! Playdough is always popular in my house, and playdough they can eat is definitely a treat!
Peanut Butter Playdough Recipe
- 1 jar of creamy peanut butter (ours was 16 oz.)
- 6 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup dry milk (plus a bit extra) (or use confectioner’s sugar)
We added the peanut butter and honey together, and mixed, then mixed in the dried milk. The dough is usually still a bit sticky at this point, and we add in a bit more dried milk until we get the consistency we like.
Making Peanut Butter Playdough with Confectioner’s Sugar
You can use confectioner’s sugar instead of dried milk. I use slightly more confectioner’s sugar than evaporated milk; for this recipe it would be 2/3 cup of the confectioner’s sugar, plus a bit more for the consistency. I prefer the evaporated milk version, but if we’re out of the evaporated milk, I’ll just use confectioner’s sugar.
Playing with Peanut Butter Playdough
The best part about peanut butter playdough is that it is edible! We add food items to our creation – and I confess that my kids enjoy snacking as they play! Raisins, chocolate chips, cranberries, marshmallows, even grated carrots and celery are popular additions to the peanut butter playdough.
