To take advantage of the snow and ice blanketing our town, we’ve been coming up with ways to play with snow inside. The kids got creative with some icicle painting!
Painting With Icicles
Icicles (you could also use ice blocks from the freezer!)
At first we tried using the icicles as paintbrushes by dipping them in paint…but the tips melted pretty quickly! Then we put squirts of different colored paint on the paper, and dragged both ends of the icicles through it (the thicker end worked best). We also rolled the icicles through the paint.
As the icicles melted, the water added to the spreading of the colors, too. It was a fun way to combine art and science! (Also check out our snowball science.)
Keep a few paper towels handy – to warm up cold little hands and clean up runaway painted icicles!
