We spend hours upon hours making LEGO creations and playing LEGO games. I love our LEGO travel case (super easy to make!) and our LEGO manual storage solution, but I’m on the look out for a storage solution for all our bricks!
At first, we stayed organized with desk organizers or muffin tins, but our LEGO collection has outgrown these solutions, and we are in need of a new LEGO storage system. I scoured Pinterest and searched online, and found several LEGO organization ideas that I love.
If you have a smaller collection, or your child is working with only a few pieces for a project, muffin tins or small desk organizers work well. You can have everything you need in front of you, but organized in a way that you can see what you need at a glance. We still use the muffin tin for separating minifigure parts.
You can organize your LEGO pieces sorted into similar colored pieces, with printable LEGO labels making it obvious at a glance what goes where. Boy Mama Teacher Mama has another version of her LEGO label system to share!
Organize LEGO pieces by color in drawers, with colored labels for each piece. IHeart Organizing used the IKEA Trofast system, with her own labeling system.
Do you also have more minifigures than you can count? If so, try out 365 Days of Pinterest Creation’s minifigure storage on the wall.
I love the curtain rod organization system from B Inspired Mama. It’s nice to have the pieces on the wall, with a playspace beneath.
This LEGO table from Kids Activities Blog has it’s own roadway plates built in, for hours of vehicle and city play.
The LEGO organization desk, from Michelle Paige, is complete with wire drawers. The best part is that it’s on wheels, so relocating it is a breeze.
I also love this LEGO table, built using with lots of storage underneath.
LEGO Storage ideas for Sale
If making your own storage isn’t your thing, you can buy a LEGO 3-Drawer Sorting System, complete with color coded drawers, and a large green LEGO building plate on top.
Another item I was considering trying out is the above LEGO sorting and storage box. Mostly we paw through the LEGO box looking for parts and inspiration. But there are times when we are following directions and need to find one little missing piece.
I have a Pinterest board with even more ideas on LEGO storage. I’d love to hear from you – how you store your LEGO pieces?
